Why I Run For me, running is more than a sport. It's challenging and thrilling and it keeps me happy and healthy, but there's more to it than that. Running is a statement. It reminds me that we can do anything we put our minds to. I never used to be able to run - it took time, perseverance, sheer will and a seemingly endless series of baby steps to develop this skill. There have been setbacks and stumbling blocks along the way, but I've kept at it and it's paid off: its seen me through frustration, anger, stress and happiness, and it continues to keep me happy and healthy. On Sunday, September 13th , I'll be running to end poverty. It will be a run fueled by the hope that the lessons I've learned from running remain true: it may take baby steps, but we can do anything we put our minds to if we invest time and energy, and perservere through the challenges. I don't think this run will end poverty, but it's a (baby) step in the right direction, and, just like the first step of a run, it will gain momemtum.
