Team History
The Run to End Poverty team took root in 2007 when an Engineers Without Borders (EWB) volunteer in Ghana, West Africa, and three EWB-Montreal chapters created a truly ‘international’ half-marathon event. By organizing simultaneous runs in Montreal and Tamale, Ghana, runners on both continents ran in solidarity in an effort to raise awareness of extreme poverty in Africa. The running events brought attention to EWB’s efforts to build capacity in African partner organizations and communities, while connecting Canadians with people in the communities where we work.
Building on this foundation, the Run to End Poverty team aims to raise Canadian’s awareness of extreme poverty in Africa, and to build support for Canadian international development efforts. Through the efforts of Run to End Poverty team members across the country, we together can create positive change and opportunity for those hardest hit by poverty.
Join the team today and help us make strides towards ending extreme poverty in Africa!
